Police: Sweden Bombs a Terror Attack (Wall Street Journal)

STOCKHOLM - Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt urged patience Sunday as police continued to investigate two explosions in Stockholm on Saturday afternoon is a person dead and two others wounded in what security services are treated as a terrorist attack.

A few minutes later, a 28-year-old man died to what the Swedish media said was an apparent suicide bombing of a few hundred metres from the car. Witnesses reported seeing a man lying on the floor subsequently with blood seem to come from his abdomen and news reports said there was a bag of nails on the ground beside him. Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

"We cannot confirm that events are linked, of course, it raises questions," Mr Reinfeldt said, urging people to go to conclusions or act in any hastily.

Officials said SAPO explosions were treated as an act of terrorism, said Sunday, but he refused to give details.

"Until now, the investigation focuses primarily on human" SAPO, Anders Thornburg, Swedish security service Chief said Sunday press conference. He refused to indicate if there are links between the incidents or whether someone else was involved but simply said: "it could be."

Mr. said Thornburg explosions have been treated as an act of terrorism, but that is not necessarily a threat to the Sweden.

"What has happened is very serious, but our assessment is that what occurred did not alter our assessment of the level of threat in Sweden," he said.

Police said they were aware of the email, but could not immediately confirm a link to the explosions.

Be patient and let the justice system do its work. My job is to be clear and stick to what we know. When we get answers, we will have a discussion on what we do in terms of security. "We learned the opposition and there are ongoing discussions with other authorities," he said.
